With the reduction of petroleum in the world, more and more people pay attention to how to make biodiesel. In 1980s, the first biodiesel oil machine is made in China. Then Chinese open a new stage of biodiesel.

What is biodiesel?
Biodiesel is made from oil crops, such as soybean, rapeseed, palm, algae, animal oil, used cooking oil and so on. The biodiesel is used as diesel from petroleum. It can be add to track, tractor, ship, even can be used in airplane in some countries.

How to make biodiesel?
The most popular way to make biodiesel oil is interesterification. Under the function of catalyst, the elements in the normal oil is changed to FAME (fatty acid methyl ester) by intersterification reaction. The FAME is the main element of biodiesel.

The reaction of making biodiesel as follows:

R2 COO CH+ 3MeOH(EtOH)----R1 (R2, R3) COOMe[R1(R2,R3) COOEt]+ 2CH2(OH)CH(OH)

R3 COO CH2
